CSI Miami

Last night, I was watching CSI Miami. I've never been a huge fan of the series, especially when they seem to recycle storylines from one show to another. Still, it's a good hour to spend listening while I work on my laptop.

Last night's show was very graphic for dog lovers. (For all of you who are fans of the show and missed last night's episode, this is a huge SPOILER!) A huge dog was unleashed on a man in a locker room. He was locked inside and a janitor unlocked the door and was killed by the dog as a result.

It turns out the man the dog was initially unleashed on was a pedophile, and the people responsible were abused by the man when they were children. While I understood the storyline, I didn't like the method they used to tell this story.

Many dogs are used and breed every day in this country and around the world to perpetuate violence. When I watch fictional shows, I watch the shows to escape. I enjoy a good cop story as much as the next person but I couldn't enjoy this. It may be a realistic scenario, but there are too many people out there who are afraid of dogs and expecting this to happen.

While the story turned out to be an interesting one, I was dismayed that they had an animal rescuer use the one thing he lived to protect as a weapon to injure another person, even if the person was evil. Maybe it was all too true to life for me, but if I wanted to see a story like that, I'd tune into Animal Cops.

I only hope this isn't a trend that other shows follow.

For all of you who saw CSI Miami last night, what were your thoughts on this?
