Dog Tested On Facebook

No dog likes the car like Cookie. If she had to choose, I think she'd choose taking a ride over having a treat. That's why I was thrilled when I found the Dog Tested app on Facebook. It's made by Subaru and is geared towards all dog owners with cool stuff for your dogs. The first thing I did was make a driver's license for Cookie. All you do is take your favorite picture of your dog, put in their doggie address, and create their license. The app then creates a photo license of your dog and adds it to their photo gallery on Facebook. I did this with the picture of Cookie seen above.

Not only does it showcase their car line, it contains some other cool features on the app include Ask An Expert, where you can ask a dog a question. The app works in a chat format with a dog sitting at a desk, getting ready to punch an answer into a laptop. I asked Lars what his favorite treat was and he typed in "Eat Shoe". Not bad for a dog that can type. It's very amusing to watch. The other two chatting dogs are Gypsy and Sasha.

Being a writer for the Dog Tested campaign has been enlightening. I've met some cool bloggers and learned a lot about how companies are changing from being just one that tells a message to one that shares experiences with their customers. That's the magic of social media.I just love the intro video because it shows dogs at their most awesome. It also has a sense of irreverent humor about it too. Here's the link to the intro video.

Home 4 The Holiday Hits A New Milestone

Each year, over eight million animals are found homeless. Half of those animals wind up being euthanized.

Some of you may remember the Home 4 The Holiday blog posts from last year. Well, IAMS is back helping pets to find new homes again this year. Their goal is to have 1.5 million animals be placed permanently and give out 5,000,000 bowls of food to shelters in need. Since October 1st, over 413,000 animals have been adopted, as you can see below.

Help Animals This Holiday Season!

I'm very excited to announce that Too Kool Doggies is doing a special joint promotion with Home 4 the Holidays on Twitter. If you're on Twitter, you can feed hungry animals by just typing a few characters. Each tweet that includes @Iams and #TKD4Shelters in their tweet will give 10 meals to shelters. This will be happening from Tuesday, November 22nd to Tuesday, November 29.

If you're not on Twitter but still would like to help, you can also create a special holiday card through the Iams Facebook page. Each time a person likes the Facebook page, comments on a post or photo, Iams will donate a free bowl of food.

Have you recently adopted a pet? You can spread the news and help animals at the same time. Use the Iams Card Creator to create a special announcement and Iams will donate bowls of food for each card created.

Save A Dog on Facebook

These days, Facebook is one of the most popular websites ever. It ranks #2 on Alexa.com and takes up 41% of the social media market share. Part of the reason, this website is so popular is its applications. There's one that I use and I think if you use Facebook, it's a must to check out.

It's called Save A Dog. In this free app, you virtually foster a dog until they are adopted. You can foster up to two dogs. It gives you an idea of the time frame it takes to adopt out a dog. I like to choose the least adoptable I can find, so I can foster the dog as long as possible. In truth, many dogs  are never adopted out and it's just a tiny way to remember that.

There are tasks where you also can walk a dog or arrange a playdate. When you've accumulated 2,500 points, the monetary amount of a cup of food will be donated to the program. In turn, it benefits all of the shelters participating.

It may seem like a small amount however if enough people participate, it all adds up. What I love most about this program is, if the dog you're fostering is no longer in the shelter, they will tell you it's left the yard.

Best of all, it's a way for you to help dogs by just taking a couple of minutes out of your day while you're on Facebook. It's one of the least time-consuming applications out there.
