I guess sometimes our pets get protective and possessive of us. Ultimately, you have to set the ground rules first because it's harder to retrain an animal to do something new compared to what they're used to. Dana was allergic to cats, even though she genuinely enjoyed them, and I was afraid that would become an issue. Fortunately it didn't - at least not for Dana. It was one of the CATS, Sophie, who had a problem with Dana! Sophie was used to sleeping with me, so she got really bent out of shape when Dana slept with me instead (with the bedroom door closed). It was a sleepless night, with Sophie meowing and banging on the door all night...

In a prior incident with that same cat, I was seeing someone who also loved cats, but was totally inept at approaching them, and made them feel threatened - they'd hiss and yowl at her when she'd reach out to pet them. This woman was also inept at dealing with me (and people in general), and our time together didn't last long. It seemed like the cats' negativity towards her was a sign!Pat McCarthyhttp://www.spmaudio.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7662010346737175904.post-76505336024466055582012-06-28T08:54:54.118-05:002012-06-28T08:54:54.118-05:00You never realize how much of a factor it is until...You never realize how much of a factor it is until a guy comes into the picture. I guess some guys want just as much of say in the decision. To me, a dog is a dog and it shouldn't matter but what can you do? You were lucky not to deal with that. I feel the same way. Luckily my husband had a black lab that he took wonderful care of and after his passing, we got Oskar.

I don't think I'd want to be with a person who doesn't like dogs!

Pam
Oskar's HumanOskarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04232739145599522254noreply@blogger.com
